Minority Veterans Initiative

The Missouri Veterans Commission has established a Minority Veterans Initiative specifically to reach out to minority Veterans. Minorities in the Jackson County area consist of Black or African Americans, American Indians and Alaska Natives, Asians, and Hispanics or Latinos. They are both male and female ranging from the age of 18 to 65+.


Our vision is to ensure that Minority Veterans in the Kansas City area are informed about Veterans benefits. It our goal to expand this program to St. Louis, Missouri’s largest city serving minority Veterans.


The Kansas City Minority Veterans Initiative is a pilot project (initiative) designed to reach out to these Veterans for the purpose of informing them of benefits that they may be eligible to receive. Included in this group are dependents of Veterans who generally are considered least informed of benefits possibly afforded to them. Services provided by this office are:
